Khao Sok National Park in Southern Thailand is a nature’s paradise. It is a carpet of green cover with huge limestone mountain structures, beautiful valleys, breathtaking lakes, explorative caves, wildlife and one of the oldest evergreen rainforest in the world.

We reached the pier from where you need to take a boat to the national park.  The lake is magnificently beautiful! The boat ride takes about an hour to the camp site which is setup right on the lake.

The journey from the pier until campsite you cross some of the majestic limestone structures, the misty green mountains with some waterfall springing up at places are definitely a sight to remember.

We reached our campsite just before lunch. It was facing the mountains and there was a solid mat floating in the lake few metres away from campsite, you could swim to it and just chill there enjoying the views.

The lunch was kampung style Thai food which was very good. And then you have a few hours in hand to explore the campsite and chill. We swam around for a while, took our Kayak to go near the forest area to look for some wildlife.

If you are looking to be close to nature then this is your place. We had a good chat with fellow travelers and got ready to explore parts of the national park.

We were initially taken to a scenic place which was surrounded by limestone structures. Then came the site of the day, a cave exploration. The place surrounding it was stright from a fairy tale book, incredibly beautiful! Color of the lake,  huge towers raising above the water, misty mountains…. wow!! You have to be there to experience it….

We went inside the cave with a head tourch to explore it. This was definitely an experience not to be missed. You get to learn how the limestone structures are formed, how the water gets transported in this system. About a km deep, we traveresed through the rocky terrian, crawling at narrow paths with bats and spiders clining on to the.rocks at places. Then after a while we returned back to the starting point.

It was time to get back to the camp site. The boat ride back was extremely beautiful with the sun going down and golden hour light falling on the mountains. After reaching the camp, we had an early dinner and time to go to bed early.

Morning woke up very early but it was raining heavy. Grabbed a cup of coffee and waited for the rain to ease. But no respite….. The boat captain said people who are ok to go in the rain get on the boat. Half of the group said no but we got it, really wanted to see the jungle.

We were taken near the rainforest, it looked really really beautiful in the rain. Bird chirping, monkey calls, flight of oriental pied hornbills, freshness in the air with misty morning…. Just loved it….

After a rainy morning safari it was time to head back to the camp, just chill for a while, get the bags packed put them in the reception area and it’s time for another adventure which is a waterfall hike.

We took yet another scenic boat ride to the starting point of this trek. Could see water coming down stream at few places. The boat got docked at one location, we started our hike through the waterfall. Really didn’t know the entire hike was through the waterfall.

Due to rain the waterfall flow was also little heavy. But the guide insisted us that they know the terrian far better and nothing to worry about. It wasn’t that challenging but you need to really careful as you are going against a waterfall.

The view were just unbelievable at places, halfway through as you are in the middle of the waterfalls…..

Once you reach the top, water rushing from the waterfall becomes even more faster. But makes you feel it’s worth a climb. You start your decent through a forest patch adjecent to it. Definitely a different experience all together. You get drenched in water completely.

We returned to the base, soon after took the boat back to our camp site. A final swim in the water it’s time to head up after a stupendous lunch with this view for one last time. It’s time to say good bye to this most beautiful place and started our journey back to the jetty with a lot of beautiful memories.
