From the Forbidden City to the Great Wall there are a lot to do in Beijing, one of the busiest business and financial hub in Asia.

The major problem i found in beijing  was it isn’t that backpacker friendly place and you definitely need some planning before you visit. Particularly if you dont speak chinese and ofcourse google map doesn’t work properly.

We went past the towering structures to reach our hotel. Those huge buildings were a sight. Immeditely i wanted to visit the Forbidden city, map says about 20 mins from where i was. The driver insisted me to visit it or the greatwall next day. It was extremely cold decided going against to Great wall.

We stayed at a 4 star property in Chao yang Qu, this hotel is located on a busy street. A few yards walk will take you to a street food junction. There are a plenty to choose from. In Chaoyang, street vendors dish-up grilled kebabs and spicy shrimp while people check out the diverse shopping scene. This place is buzzing with energy.

We took a taxi which was parked right in front of the hotel and then visited the neighbouring places of Gong Ren Ti Yu Chang Dong Lu. The walk way was lit up with a lot of lights, we wanted to explore this area and walked for a few kilometers. The government office and some embessies we could see walk trolling. Then we sat down in one of the resto to have some food with good music.

Later that night i walked extensively covering a lot of places like malls, the national stadium, small shopping complexies and many more. Lucky i asked my hotel person to write down the hotel name in a piece of paper that really helped as i showed it to the taxi driver to drop me back to the hotel.

Next morning, it was around 7am i wanted to visit the forbidden city. I asked our reception person to book a cab but she said better to catch one from the main road as the app is very busy. Saw a couple of them waiting and i waited. But no luck. I asked the reception to help again but they insisted that i cross over to the other side and find one.

I waited till 9 am walking from one street to other but still couldnt find one. I went to the dinning area of the hotel and had my breakfast.

It was late in the morning, i decided to walk around the same street to explore something new. Onething i understood clearly, your backpacking stuff won’t work in China, you have to know the local apps or atleast direction to work yourself.

Later that evening we flew to HK for the weekend, it felt very easy to traverse after that short stint in China.
